Italy is in first place in Europe for business rates. The total weight of national and local taxes and social contributions is 68.6%, the highest among European countries and among the highest in the world. It is what is indicated by 'Paying Taxes 2011' a study by the World Bank and the consulting firm PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers). Out of 183 countries examined, Italy is the place to 167 º, or between the countries in which overall is heavier the burden of the levy. If you consider all the 183 countries of the world analyzed by the dossier of the World Bank and PwC, Italy occupies the 123 º position, calculating that the first places include countries where the bureaucracy is streamlined which, of course after
tax havens, we find to 2nd in the UK with 37.3% on the 3rd and Latvia with 38.5% .
